Privacy policy
Short version: this site stores nothing about you on its own servers. The only personal data it handles is an email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and anonymous visit statistics if — and only if — you allow analytics.
Newsletter (Mailchimp)
- If you subscribe, your email address is processed by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., USA) — the newsletter provider — under their data processing terms, which rely on EU standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Signup uses double opt-in: you get a confirmation email, and nothing is sent until you confirm. No confirmation, no emails.
- Every email contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes you from the list; you can also email devopsmadness@gmail.com to have your data deleted entirely.
- Your email address is never shared with anyone else or used for anything else.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
- Visit statistics use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd (with Google LLC, USA, as sub-processor).
- Analytics only runs after you accept the cookie banner. If you decline — or never choose — no Google script loads, no analytics cookies are set, and no data leaves your browser.
- You can withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer: choose "Decline" and the analytics cookies are removed and no further data is collected.
- Event data retention in Google Analytics is set to the shortest option (2 months).
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). Like any host, Vercel processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask for it in a portable format, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email devopsmadness@gmail.com for any of these. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
Cookie policy
Without your consent this site sets no cookies at all. Your theme choice and consent choice are stored in your browser's local storage — they never leave your device and identify nothing about you.
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets these cookies:
_ga— distinguishes visitors, expires after 400 days._ga_*— keeps session state, expires after 400 days.
